Replaced a blown out bridge pickup, my local guitar tech dropped it in, and it's back to where it should be. We retained the vintage hardware.
Very please with the entire experience.

Great sounding pick-up. I put it in my '82 Rick after my original bridge pick-up died. Easy to install and meshes well with my original neck pick-up. The reason I give it 3 stars is that the pick-up is glued to the back plate at an angle. It does not seem to affect the sound quality. However, I don't play with the cover over the bridge pick-up so it looks a little off. It also concerns me that this is an overall quality control issue and I am worried that there maybe be some other problems down the line. Time will tell.

Years ago my old 1990 4003 bridge pickup suddenly stopped working and I've been searching for an affordable replacement ever since. My local shop at the time installed a DiMarzio pickup in its place to kinda hold me over.
Now, after easily installing the new High Gain Pickup I've not only got the old Rickenbacker sound back, but it's even better! It has a higher output, beautiful tone and yet retains that gritty signature Rickenbacker sound.
I don't look at this as a simple replacement. It's definitely an upgrade!

People who complain about older RIC pups really should try these. Punchy and loud with the growl you'd expect - and good bottom too. I bought an '03 4003 with Bartolini replacements and it always sounded muddy and un-Rick-like. Replaced them with this and also the neck Hi-gain and added the push-pull pot for vintage tone - perfect now. Cuts through like a chainsaw.

I've just installed this product into my 1968 4001. It comes complete with the chrome surround and pickup cover but I reused the original surround from the 4001 so as to not change the bass's original appearance. I always remove the pickup covers anyway because I like to play right over the treble pickup. Because the parts are factory Rickenbacker every thing fits perfectly. The bass is now much warmer and sounds fantastic. A modification I would highly recommend.
