Getting this replacement through Pick of the Ricks was great. No hassle, easy to deal with.
But I agree with everyone else about the quality of these tailpieces and Rickenbacker's unwillingness to fix the problem. But I guess to them they just have an extra revenue stream. They know owners will buy new ones, so why make one that won't break?

The first time I opened the case to find my Rickenbacker 12 string tailpiece broken in half I ordered a replacement through Pic o’ the Ricks and received it within a couple of weeks, even though it is black. This time, I ordered a new one in September 2018 and just received it last week. They did not have any in stock and when it finally arrived, they had to send it out for powder coating. It is ridiculous that this tailpiece is designed and manufactured defectively, that we have to go through the hassle of sending the broken one in before A nnew one can be ordered, but it is even more of an insult that they are so expensive. Add to that six months delivery time and you get a lost customer who is going to sell his Rickenbacker as soon as possible.

I recently took my Roger McGuinn model in for restringing and found the tailpiece had cracked where the foot of the "R" meets the base. I wasn't surprised this had happened, since it was made with a poor "pot"metal alloy. What shocked me was that Rickenbacker hasn't changed the materials in almost 30 years, and that I not only had to pay for a replacement, but it will probably break again someday.
This seems crazy and chintzy but apparently Rickenbacker doesn't mind that they haven't fixed the underlying problem. Why not cast the piece in brass or use a better metal?
The long and the short of it is: you can't play your Rickenbacker without the right tailpiece, and you can't get the right tailpiece unless you send your broken one back to the factory through your dealer. And Pick of the Ricks is outstanding BTW.

Like many, others, my "R" tailpiece self destructed while sitting in the case. I contacted Rickenbacker and was treated like a bastard stepchild. Although I think it's criminal to have to pay $100 for a part that is clearly defective, Chris at Pick of the Ricks was very helpful and got me the part easily and quickly. This was my 3rd Rickenbacker that I bought new. It will be my last. I plan to sell it and NEVER buy another new Rickenbacker product again. I also plan to trash the company online every way that I can. Sometimes, companies deserve to go out of business and this is a good example of why.

The pickofthericks is THE place to go. When my 12string's tail piece broke I went right to the source. It took a while for the piece to come in ion black but it was worth waiting for. My white 610 is back in business, as good as new, and I am a very happy strummer.

The piece is fine, but it's pricey just for a relatively small metal tailpiece. It's ridiculous to have to pay replace something that shouldn't be breaking, especially at the price point of Ricks. Pick of the Ricks makes the process easy, though again on the weirdness of Rickenbacker, I have to send in my broken piece before I can get my replacement. It's a tailpiece, not the Hope Diamond, come on.

It VERY disappointing that Rickenbacker wouldn't replace their known defective product, especially as my Gibson, Fender, Charvel, and cheap Asian knock off guitars have yet to randomly fall apart like this one did. That said, Pick of the Ricks was awesome in helping me get the part and great to deal with.
Some reviews spoke of burrs and flashing that needed attention before installation, mine was perfect. Stuck it on, strung er up and good as new (hopefully better). Thanks again guys!

First, there are two stars only because Pick of The Ricks provides excellent service and support, otherwises, the part gets zero stars. Really.
The tailpiece I received was extremely poorly made and looked like shit. It's a molded piece, and the mold is obviously completely worn-out. The flashing spill-out from the mold's leaky seams was not trimmed before plating! Total crap workmanship. It looks like some minimum wage dropout racing a time clock made it with zero quality control. I spent an hour with a dremel to clear out the slots for the string ferrules so they'd stay in place, and to trim the flashing and rough spots. If you want to keep the chrome plating, you'll need to redo this! This wasn't a problem for me since I had to powdercoat it myself anyway because the black ones aren't being made anymore. At $100 plus shipping *both* ways (you have to send your old one in before they ship the new crappy one), plus tax, and this is 3x to 4x more than t's worth. Shame on Rickenbacker. I will never buy another one of their products. Ever.
Oh, did I mention I had to buy this because the original tailpiece on my '91 620/12 snapped after 25 years? What other guitar maker has ever had this problem? Total POS.

The service and support from Pick of the ricks was excellent. The item which is a rickenbacker 12 string tail piece is not very well made unfortunately, good looking but made of a casted material which should be of better quality.
But Chris and pick of the ricks excellent!

I've been a Rickenbacker owner since 1969. I remain completely disappointed in how the Rickenbacker company chose to treat it's loyal customers. The reps at Rickenbacker told me that Pick Of The Ricks was the real deal. On principle alone, I decided to get the part (Replacement R 12 string Tailpiece) from Chris, rather than give Rickenbacker list price on their defective R Tailpiece. Chris is a true pro, and quickly processed my order and shipment. The replacement part seems better made than what came on my guitar. 5 stars for Pick Of The Ricks!
