  1. 4003S Ruby

Posted by Bob Popiel on 16th Mar 2016

My new 4003S arrived almost exactly 12 months after my order. It was worth it. It arrived at my home in perfect condition. The carrier Chris uses handled it carefully. Box not damaged. I was one of the lucky ones to get Ruby. Appearance is stunning. And it plays and sounds great. I've learned to play with the treble cover in place, so it stays. Without the binding you can really see the grain of the wood in the neck.

  2. BEST MUSIC STORE FOR RICKENBACKER AND HOFNERS!

Posted by david ochal on 2nd Dec 2014

CHIRS' RICKOFTHERICKS SITE IS BY FAR A GREAT CHOICE FOR QUALITY INSTRUMENTS AND ACCESSORIES. AND THE IDEA OF MAKING A DEPOSIT TO HOLD YOUR PURCHASE PRICE WITH IS THE IDEAL WAY TO SAVE YOU MONEY. KEEP THE FAITH.

  3. Rickenbacker 4003W

Posted by Glen Renzoni on 26th Nov 2014

I wasn't looking for a new Rick, but when I seen the new 4003W, I just fell in love with it. Never seen Chris' site before, just typed in 4003W, and he was the first that I found to offer it for order, so I put down my $200 and waited (typical for many Ricks).
As for Pick of the Ricks, the communication was great, price was the best I've found (even beat the huge volume chains), wait was about 8 months, but what can you do about that. All in all, a pain free transaction and good service.
As for the 4003W...WOW!!! I just love this bass!!! Compared to my '82 4001 Maple Glow, it's body seems slightly smaller, also seems lighter but I haven't weighed them. The satin neck feels very fast, the oiled finish is beautiful, and I love the grain. I agree with the others, that Rick should offer satin necks on other basses. This just feels so much nicer than my 4001. Maybe just 'cus my 4001 is 32 years old, and pretty well worn from lots of plying and travel (flattened frets and lots of the finish has worn off). Maybe it's just 'cus the 4003W is new, but it's all I've played since I got it. Beautiful bass, and a good experience buying from Chris.

  4. Instrument Deposit

This is a really great way to commit to the Rick, and to know that you'll get your new love as soon as John Hall and Company get around to making it. Chris gives you that extra peace of mind, knowing that you'll get exactly what you want

  5. 330 Walnut

Posted by James Butera on 22nd Sep 2014

Chris and I go way back...I don't know how many Ric's I've bought from him over the years, but it's at least more than 10. Including a sea green 330 which I wish I still had. Chris is a great guy to buy from. Very honest, and always helpful..has a beautiful showroom as well. I have not had one in 10 years.. Because I sold them all at some point.. And I Was not looking for one.. Just did a search on Rickenbacker and saw that they were making walnut 330's..which is the style I like..solid walnut with an oil finish, and a satin feel maple neck and fretboard.....and not a heavy gloss finish on the neck..I gave my deposit..and Chris told me it would be 6-8 months..it was 2. He contacted me, that a Ric 330 had come in and sent me photos.and I picked it up recently..very figured top and back..when I brought it to guitar center to show them, they were all taking photos..it was the nices guitar in the store. This Feels very different from a traditional Ric. Very fast slick silky neck. Easy to play..Ric should offer satin maple necks on all their models as an option, because I feel it's a faster more comfortable, and easy neck to play on.
The rest is a pure Rickenbacker, ..pickups Body, layout etc... Buy from Chris, best prices online..and full warranty.

  6. Great New Series for RIC

Posted by Unknown on 4th May 2014

This 330W/6 guitar plays well, looks great, sounds edgy and is nice and light. I have a couple of other 380L model Rickenbackers with Maple necks and love the playability of this kind of neck. Reminds me a bit of a Telecaster. Chording is fast and leads run smooth and easy. Overall, just a great new product. The order, transaction and shipping went smoothly as Pick of the Ricks deals always do. Thanks for the great guitar and service,

  7. Review of new Rickenbacker 4003W

Posted by Steven Kroczynski on 24th Mar 2014

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the case of my new Rickenbacker 4003W bass.
I looked even more striking and beautiful than I thought it would. It seems slightly lighter in weight then my regular 4003 (could the finish weigh that much?) and is very well balanced. The tone is has the “classic” Rickebacker growl and the set up was perfect. Awesome bass!
I have never had the Ric without the thick finish on the body, neck and fingerboard, but I really like the "unfinished feel" of the 4003w.
I’d love to see Rickenbacker issue a 4004 with the walnut wings, similar to the original issue, but with the 4003 neck dimensions.

  8. Rickenbacker 4004 Laredo in Snowglo!

Posted by Jeffrey Scott on 27th Nov 2013

I have been playing Rick basses (and guitars) since the early '70s. starting out with a 1967 4005WB so having two understring type pickups on a Rickenbacker is very natural feeling for me. With the bridge pickup further away from the bridge than it is on a 4005 makes that pickup supremely useful when solo'd as I can get a nice, funky, Jaco-esque type of tone with it when the tone control is rolled off most of the way. This just adds so much versatility to some great classic Rick tones from this bass along with no single coil hum given the HB-1 humbucking pickups on the 4004 basses.

The neck has the same feel as current 4003 basses as it uses the same neck blank providing a very comfortable feel which is enhanced by the very contoured body. The simplicity of the control layout makes one spend more time playing music and less time with fiddling to get the tone needed for any kind of music.

To top it off, the wonderful Snowglo finish is very special, as I have been wanting a white Rick for decades and combined with it being on a 4004 makes the perfect bass, no unnecessary distractions to get in the way of this stunning looking bass!
